Pak broke negotiations by inviting Hurriyat : US
While allegations and counter allegations are going on for cancellation of Indo-Pak NSA level dialogue but we believe this is a win-win for India. It had not occurred earlier to Pakistani the Indo-Pak negotiations are broken due to these very separatists of J&K. India has given a signal to Pakistan and the world that India will decide the direction and situation of the negotiations. We feel it has also been decided for future that a handful Pak-pro separatists will not be deciding the Kashmir issue and if felt necessary, Government of India can express it by taking strict action. US experts have also held Pakistan responsible for cancellation of dialogue. South Asia Associated Kugelman of a prestigious institute like Woodrow Wilson International Centre said that Pakistan blasted off the bridge of dialogues by inviting Hurriyat. Former Pak Ambassador to US Hakkani said that Pakistan’s conduct was according to its old efforts of trying to attract international attention towards Kashmir. New York Times says that Pakistan cancelled dialogue with India citing of ban on the Hurriyat Leaders. The news reports suggest that it was the result of dispute between two countries over Pak’s plan to meet Kashmiri separatists in India. Both paid for non-consent as both are blaming each other for failure of dialogue. LA Times reacted that influential army of Pakistan gave signs of sidelining the Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef. It’s a big win of Modi government that separatists in J&K themselves have become the target of those parties who had given a warm approach for them. BJP and Central Government were encircled by the questions arising over some issues soon after the formation of government with PDP in J&K especially on the issue of separatism. Though the dialogue was not less opposed within BJP itself, especially after the terrorist Naved was captured. Some leaders were openly demanding to cancel the dialogue. Whether the opposition may allege the government failure after the cancellation of the dialogue but in our opinion the Government of India succeeded in its strategy. Pakistan itself fell prey in the game of the government and had to face checkmate. Modi government killed the snake without breaking the stick. The credit goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and NSA to India Ajit Doval.
