Frank speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin
While speaking at the 70th Annual Session of United Nations in New York on 28th September, President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, without naming US, blamed its domineering and arbitrary policy for today’s biggest problem of terrorism and asked all the nations to fight against all terrorist powers including Islamic State (IS). He also expressed the Russian willingness to form a comprehensive forum and front to serve this aim. Analysing the present situation of North Africa, Syria and entire Western Asia, President Putin in about 23-minutes speech said that it’s the result of their policy of toppling the reigns of dislikes by revolt, creating anarchy and violence and abusing the human rights, forcing millions of people to take shelter in other nations leaving behind all their belongings. Pointing towards the US, Putin asked - do you know what you’ve done? He reminded that at a time erstwhile Soviet Union had spread instability and anarchy in various regions of the world through the export of revolution and ideology; and now the sole power point (US) of the world, emerged after the cold war, is also repeating the same mistake by spreading mayhem by destroying Iraq, Libya and local regime on the pretext of restoring democracy. To serve this purpose, terrorists were nursed; initially they targeted on toppling the secular governments of dislikes but now thousands of jehadis are joining the Islamic State born with the times. What President Vladimir Putin frankly said, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been saying. Addressing thousands of Indian origin people gathered in St. George in the US, Modi clearly said that the terrorism cannot be fought partially. He urged all the nations of the world and the UN to frame a single policy and sharp action on terrorism instead of separate policies. Not only this, targeting the people drawing a dividing line between the good and bad terrorism he said that it should be clear that what is the definition of terrorism and what should not be treated as terrorism? It would be fatal for all of us if we leave a space between the ‘yes’ and ‘no’ to the terrorism. We will never be able to combat terrorism like this. Modi put Pakistan in the dock without naming it. The entire world is serious on PM’s demand that terrorism should be fully defined. We get this acknowledgement from the speech of President Putin.
PM Modi’s campaign against the terrorism is succeeding. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has said that the entire world needs to put combined efforts to combat growing terrorism. He said that the governments alone can’t do this. All together the whole world will have to work for it. Terrorism today, whether in any form, under any banner, has become the biggest problem of the world and it needs global efforts to combat this problem. Addressing the summit of leaders for combating the violent terrorism he also said that the violent terrorist groups are dangerous for international safety and security. It’s dangerous not only to a particular nation but also to every nation. We appreciate the frank speech of Russian President Putin exposing the root of terrorism.
