US CHANTING NAMO NAMO AFTER AFFRONTING MODI FOR THE LAST 12 YEARS

Anil Narendra,
US after continuously insulting Narendra Modi for a period of 12 years is showering extolment on him.  US denied visa to him is now compelled to shift its stiff stand; there might be many invisible reasons behind this.  US has not only expressed its desire to establish historic partnership with India but has also praised her approach. The way US Secretary of State, John Kerry, just before his visit to India spoke high about Modi Government and gave indication of the long term relations between the two countries is enough to assess the changing bilateral spectrum of relations.  The kind of relations developed on the announcement of the Indo –US Civil Nuclear Agreement during UPA I regime, weakened during last few years.  The visible US enrapture has been drawing attention as the doors of US had been closed for Modi after Gujarat riots.  US had not been at all ready to grant visa to Modi till announcement of Lok Sabha election results.  It is not a surprise that US which used to consider the policies of Modi and RSS as abetment to communalism is able to see the revolutionary symbols in the so called saffron revolution of Modi government.  US Secretary of State, John Kerry is in India to attend the 5th Annual Strategic Meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister, has openly supported the “ taking along everybody for an inclusive growth “ vision of Modi government.  In fact, American companies have been elated over the infinite potentials to capture Indian market.  US has been always taking care of her economic interests, it is not worthwhile to mention.  US is since pinning hope on the vast consumer market, defence, trade and energy sectors of our country.  Her major concern today is Indian Nuclear Responsibilities Act, causing obstacles in commissioning of the Nuclear Power Plants in our country.  In case the obstacles become ineffective, US would like to avail opportunity of commissioning Nuclear Plants with total capacity of 16 thousand MW.  An investment amounting to Rs two thousand crore by US companies, business houses and general electric companies is at stake.  India has purchased defence installations and armouries worth 10 billion dollar during last decade and has yet to take a decision on the huge purchase of such installations. Kerry is accompanied by the Secretary of commerce, Penny Pritzar.  Kerry aims to prepare a better atmosphere for the proposed September visit of Indian PM to US. Kerry is not expecting much out of his present visit.  US is willing to have deep relations with India to balance the emerging new power of China though not expecting for the time being any substantial progress in this direction because of a reformist image of the new government in India. US has been clearly inclined towards Pakistan, India would have to keep this in her mind.  The reason is obvious; Pakistan is going to become a necessity for US as she has to leave Afghanistan.  Despite a shift in the attitude of US, there is no need to forget the differences between two countries on the issues of Intellectual Rights Act and subsidies.  Indian interests are linked to the two issues and our government would never like on concede on the issues.  We welcome the changed attitude of US despite number of differences.  It is hoped that the new government will not surrender before US like its predecessor PM Mamnmohan Singh and his government and Modi would never compromise on the self respect of the country.
